DuPont Has Us Spinning in Circles

Are you missing the snowball fights of last winter? Looking for information about Dupont Circle? Listings? History of the city? Best restaurants and shops? The Lise Howe Team is here with all that and more! Did you know that the history of Dupont Circle is not as old as the rest of the city? and that it wasn’t even called Dupont Circle originally? It was supposed to be called Pacific Circle! The intersection of Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire Avenues with Nineteenth and P Streets was there on Pierre L’Enfant’s 1791 plan for the city, but the land that is Dupont Circle today was not part of the original purchase of land by George Washington for the Federal City.

Why Bother With a Buyer Agent for New Construction?
new construction

New construction can be wonderful too, but you need to go into the contract with your eyes wide open and with someone on your side. Make sure you bring along a buyer’s real estate agent – someone who works for you and is looking out for your best interest.

Watch out Buyers!! You can annoy the Bethesda home seller without meaning to and suddenly, you are not getting that dream home at the best price and terms, or you have turned a smooth transaction into a nightmare! You might have to start over again in Chevy Chase!

Avoid unnecessarily irritating the seller and the listing agent and strive instead to create a environment of cooperation. Then you might just get a better price, extra items you want thrown into the deal, or even more flexibility around settlement and move in – all benefits that can make your life easier and your budget go further in Kenwood, Kenwood Forest, or Forest Hills.

Buyer Tips for DC, MD, VA Foreclosures and Homes for Sale

Buyer interest in DC, MD and VA foreclosures has definitely risen over the last few months. Trulia found that 49% of Americans were at least somewhat likely to consider buying a foreclosure, up from 45% in May 2010. If you are looking at Bethesda or DC or McLean homes for sale, you should consider foreclosures. Even luxury homes for sale in Bethesda, DC, and VA are sometimes foreclosures. But there are also concerns about the hidden costs and risks involved in the process. Buying a foreclosure is not for the faint of heart or those in a hurry.

Helpful Ideas for Sellers in the Military – Are You Upside Down in Your Mortgage?

In a real estate market where prices have declined military families with PCS orders face a difficult decision. Do you hold on to your home and rent, hoping for prices to rebound in another 3-5 years or attempt a short sale and hope that your lender will consider PCS orders a “hardship?”

There are two other options that may be available for you to consider as well. Military families stationed at Fort Belvoir, the Pentagon, Quantico and other Military District of Washington installations who purchased a home prior to July 1, 2006 may find that Homeowner Assistance Program (HAP) may offer some relief if you have upcoming PCS orders to move.

Forest Hills Featured!

Forest Hills is perfect for the home seeker looking for a quiet escape close to all the amenities of urban living as well as the (almost) wilderness area of Rock Creek Park. This community of winding streets, gentle hills, and lots of trees and vegetation is perfectly named as Forest Hills. I love Forest Hills for its gracious not-cookie cutter homes, and this may be the best part of the city to find luxury homes with a contemporary style.

Clarendon – A Gem in Arlington

Clarendon is one of Arlington county’s favorite urban villages. The neighborhood is a walker’s paradise. Clarendon has a very successful mixed use approach with commercial strip mall – mom and pop stores – mixed in with residential housing -apartments, condominiums, and single family homes. What’s unique about Clarendon is its neighborhood association, Clarendon Alliance, which successfully pulls together business owners and residents as a public-private partnership to market the community. In addition, there is the Lyon Village Citizen Association, a neighborhood association.
