What do homebuyers want? According to a Trulia survey, buyers have some very firm ideas about what they are looking for when hiring a real estate agent. It doesn’t matter whether you are a first time home buyer or in search of a luxury home.
1. Honesty and Credibility
Many of the buyers in the survey group had past negative experiences with agents. The agents had tried to push them towards a more expensive purchase and created a false sense of urgency about placing an offer on a house. 3. Good Follow Through
During the Trulia survey buyers constantly verbalized their frustration with agents who didn’t do what they said. Email me, call me and send me the things you say you will. It seems like such a small thing to ask for.

5. Good Listening Skills
Buyers want an agent to listen to them with an open mind. They want an agent who listens to what they want and will ask as many questions as required to really understand who they are and what they are looking for. I pride myself on listening to what you want and then taking it to heart. I will ask you lots of questions before we start and as we look at properties together to get more of a sense of what you really want. Watching your reaction to each property is very revealing too. Some features will make your heart sing and others will leave you cold. Those all add up to a better picture of your dream home.
Many buyers, particularly people relocating to DC from elsewhere, have no idea where to live. Do you start to look for a home for sale in Bethesda or a condo for sale in Dupont Circle?
